HOPPERS CLUB GOLF CLUB PRESENTATION NIGHT 12 NOVEMBER 2016

The annual Hoppers Club Golf Club presentation night was held this year at the The Views Function Bar and Grill located at the magnificent Werribee Park Golf Club. A two course meal and sweets at the finish capped off a great evening of food, conversation and  music provided from the band Nice Types, whose mixture of 60, 70 and 80’s music was a real highlight.  The winners on the night were as follows: A Grade Winter Champion: Graeme Walker B Grade Winter Champion: Scott Grey A Grade Club Champion: Glenn Clarkson B Grade Club Champion: Rob McKenna Putting: Scott Grey and Darren Robinson Ambrose: Ted Katic, Steve Caulfield and Paul Young. All in all, a great evening to end the year, and we hope to see you all again for another golfing extravaganza in 2017. To all, have a very merry Xmas, a fantastic New Year, and above all else, stay safe!  See you all in the new year!      ...

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF CLUB RESULTS TULLAMARINE 17 JULY 2016

A bright, cold, wintry sun greeted the 19 hearty souls who ventured out to Tullamarine Golf Club intent on torturing themselves once again chasing that little white ball across all parts of the course. The stiff wind made for tricky conditions, as shown by the scores at the end of the day. The results were as follows: Winner: Alex Anderson 68 Runner up : Darren Robinson 70 Third: Mick Dunne 71 NTP Results: 7th: Ben Redpath 15th: Ted Katic 18th: Graeme Walker Longest Drive Ben Redpath Putting Mick Dunne/Roy Hopkins with 27 putts. NAGA Rob McKenna with an outstanding score of 101!  Well done to all those guys who turned up to support the club. We look forward to seeing you all at Clifton Springs  on 7th August for the first round of the club championships. Tee off at 7.30 sharp....

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF CLUB RESULTS 3RD JULY 2016 – MELTON VALLEY GOLF CLUB

Melton Valley Golf Club provided the back drop for the 3rd round of the winter championships, and a good turn up ensued with the day being quite mild for this time of year. Nice sunny conditions and little wind promised some good scores.  Sadly, once again from my point of view, that didn’t eventuate into reality. Others made a better fist of the conditions however, and the results were as follows: Winner “A” grade was Ray Batty with a net 70 (although someone needs to remind kiwi that he is in A grade!) Winner “B” grade was Roy Hopkins with a net 65. Good scoring Roy! NTP 6th – Brad Cox, a new player to the club who started ignominiously by putting two balls into the car park on the opening 10th hole, including cleaning up a BMW SUV and 3 other vehicles. Outstanding work! I am happy to say that he improved markedly after that, and really hit some long balls. 9th – Mick Cristaldi 12th – Steve Caulfield 14th – Brad Cox (again) 17th, and money hole went to Steve Caulfield again who kindly shared the loot with his playing partners. Nice one Steve! Longest Drive A contentious winner here as Ray Batty belted one a mile, but couldn’t remember if he was in A or B grade and ended up putting the marker out for B grade. So although Ray won the longest drive, no B grade results were able to be entered this week as Ray is in A grade and definitely will be after the handicappers get through with him this week! Putting The...

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF CLUB RESULTS MELTON 4TH OCTOBER

The weather Gods certainly have been kind to us this spring. Another magnificent day, not a cloud in the sky, and the promise of some good scoring conditions for the 2nd round of the Club championships. If only I could have matched the conditions! There were some great scores, mine went out the window with 3 balls in the drink on the par 3 12th! Anyway, enough about me, the winners on the day were: A Grade: Glenn Clarkson, who is continuing on his great form from Gisborne, B Grade: The returning wanderer Pauline O’Meara, The Nearest to the pins: 6th: that man Glen Clarkson again! 9th: another consistent winner, Graeme Walker 14th: Ted Katic, and….(big drum roll) the money hole 17th was won by………..NO! NOT MICK DUNNE AGAIN! but our intrepid traveler Pauline (Purple) O’Meara who tells me it’s the first time she’s even been on that green. Great effort as it’s a long hole for the ladies. Mick Dunne reckons he was closer but just off the short cut. Well, unfortunately you gotta be on the short stuff to get the prize mate! Anyway, it was good to see Mick finally let someone else win the money! Longest drive “A” Grade went to me (YAY!!) D Robinson after belting one past Ted Katic, whom I’m sure will be embarrassed that a hacker like me could get one by him! Longest drive “B: Grade went to the other intrepid traveler Kevin O’Meara just to keep it in the family! The putting went to Glenn Clarkson with 25 puts. He is getting knocked up getting out...

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF CLUB RESULTS GISBOURNE SEPT 27

Another great day of Golf at Gisborne for the Hoppers club. The weather was superb, and the course was in good condition (apart from the cored greens!) (I posted a picture of the 16th so that you could relive the glory moment! Longest drive went to Ted Katic Putting was shared between D Robinson and S Caulfield. The N.A.G.A was unfortunately won by Dave McClure. Better luck next week Dave! Thanks for all those who attended. We need your support, so please keep turning up!    ...

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF RESULTS PORTARLINGTON 15 FEB 2015

HOPPERS CLUB GOLF RESULTS PORTARLINGTON 15 FEB 2015

Hi again all Hoppers Golf members! Portarlington put on a great day for our round two stableford competition. The course was in great nick, so no excuses for any bad golf played on the day! In conjunction with the normal competition we also had a yellow ball event. Each group was allocated a yellow ball, and each player in the group used it in rotation until either the round was complete, or the ball was lost, with the scores being recorded on a separate score card. I won’t say too much, as our group managed to lose it on the second hole! Onya Kev! Still, not sure if losing it on the second hole is worse than losing it on the 18th as Mick Dunne’s group managed to do! Good work Mick! The results for the competition were as follows: Winner : Glen Clarkson 42 points Runner up: Kathy Keller 38 points 3rd place:  Pauline “Purple” O’Meara Nearest the pins: 2nd: Ted Katic 5th: Darren Robinson 17th Kathy (where did I pull that one from) Keller Longest Drive: Charlie Camilleri NAGA: Steve Caulfield   Thanks to all those who turned up, and hopefully we’ll see everyone at the next game!   NEXT GAME: 1st March 2015 – Melton Valley. Normal round stroke event.  ...
Good turn-out for the first event of the year

Good turn-out for the first event of the year

Even though the weather was not very kind the first game of the year was held at Curlewis on Sunday 1st of February. We had a good turnout of 25 players. The winners on the day were 1st     Ben Redpath 2nd   Ray Littlepage 3rd    John Henderson This year we have decided to do away with A and B grades except for the championship rounds and have three prizes instead.   With the price rises in green fees over the last couple of years our numbers have been dwindling so to try and combat this we have come up with a couple of ideas to try and get people interested again. On one par three every game we will have players put in two dollars if they wish and the nearest the pin will get the cash which the players seemed to embrace at Curlewis. The winner at Curlewis received $44. We will introduce a pairs competition played over three rounds throughout the year. Anyone introducing a new member to the club will get $10 Off their green fees on that particular day. Finally we will pay for members who have played 50 games or more to be members of the Drummond club. For every 20 members we sign up @ $20 a head we will receive $250 voucher plus throughout the year we will receive some vouchers for prizes....
