TIMBOON October 15th 2017

Timboon October 15, 2017 60 Members departed at 8.15 am for Timboon, morning tea in Colac we were treated with cornflake cookies made by Raelene and baby cannoli made by Monica, Carlos wife. They were both delicious if I must say so. We made our way to Berry World where we were given a short talk on the history of the farm. We also meet “Aussie” the resident Cockatoo, he was very welcoming and was going from shoulder to shoulder, like Daryl’s, Maree’s, Bruno’s, Wendy’s and Pam’s just to name a few. We were given a chance to wonder the paddocks and pick and eat any strawberries that we found. Back on the bus to Timboon Railway Shed Distillery for lunch. where we were treated to a very delicious lunch we were given a short talk about the distillery and were given a taste of the Whiskeys. We then made our way to Timboon Cheesery, home of the Schulz Organic Farms where we were given a talk by Ruth and a taste of various items that the cheesery sells. The cheesery sure did a good trade from us folk on the bus, selling out of most things. At 3pm we boarded the bus to start our trip home, stopping at Colac for a quick cuppa and biscuits and a toilet stop as well. We were treated to a special surprise on our way home……a raffle. The winners were Antonia Muscat, Julie Given, Wayne Ralston all getting $75 trip credit each and Keith Cartwright won a hamper from Berry World. A great day was had by all so thanks goes...

GEELONG TRIP – March 18, 2018 35 members boarded for the trip to Geelong on the way it started raining and we were on our way to a market luckily the market was held in a shed it was good. There were a few purchases made. We left the market at 11.15am for the Gateway Hotel for lunch, arriving there at approximately 11.35am. We did have a lovely buffet meal with a variety of things to choose from. We left there at 1.30pm to go to the Wyndham Cache for afternoon tea, on the way we made a surprise stop at the the B24 Liberator Restoration in Werribee, for those of you that don’t know what this is…. It is the only remaining B24 in existence, located on the Princess Highway and Farm Road in Werribee. We were given a tour of the shed, it is run by volunteers and if you are a WW2 plane history buff well this is the place to visit. The restoration is being done by volunteers and donations. The Travel Club made a donation, thank you to those members who also made their own separate donations. Upon arrival at Wyndham Cache we had time to go into the deli to make some purchases. We headed on for our lovely Devonshire tea. The scones were delicious just having come out from the oven. A great day was had by all and a big thank you goes to Lyn for organising the day.
